The ten most interesting places in the world

1. Stonehenge, England

Prehistoric monument in Wiltshire was constructed by witches as a temple of worship claimed by some, while others insist that it was made by aliens.

Some scientists say that the building has its cult nature and is associated with the summer solstice.

2. Chichen Itza, Mexico

Chichen Itza is a pre-Columbian site built by the Maya, on the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico. In translation the name means "in the well of the Itza tribe". The Mayan pyramid at Chichen Itza was selected as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World in July 2007 after a global Internet vote.

3. Old City of Jerusalem and its walls

This holy city is for Jews, Christians and Muslims. Jerusalem has always kept the aura of mystique for their own people. Jerusalem is proud with over 220 historic monuments with among them the wonderful dome of the rock (Dome of the Rock) from the VII century, the Wailing Wall and the tomb of Christ (Holy Sepulcher).

4. Rapa Nui, Easter Island

The local name of Easter Island is Rapa Nui. It is a volcanic, Polynesian island, guarded by huge stone statues. The sinister figures probably were built to portray the important ancestors of each clan.

The statues weigh hundreds of tons and rise above 9 feet. There are more than 800 and are found all over the Easter Island. These statues are among the wonders of the world. Over 3,000 people live among the statues on the island today.

5. Vatican City, Italy

One of the most religious and beautiful cities on earth, the Vatican has in fact closed, a sovereign city-state with a population of around 900 people. This is the smallest country in the world. It is situated on the hill of Monte Vaticano, in the western part of Rome. Ruled by the Pope, this is the place to be seen when in Rome. Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful sights in the Vatican is the Pope's Palace, home of the Pope, including Raphael's rooms, Sistine Chapel and frescoes painted by Michelangelo.

In 1984, Vatican City was included in the UNESCO list for World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

6. Pyramids of Giza, Egypt

Rising from the sand on the outskirts of Cairo are the pyramids, a complex of ancient monuments, which are among the seven wonders of the ancient world. The ancient necropolis consists of the pyramid of Khufu, the pyramid of Hefren, pyramid Mikerin and the big sphinx.
